Abstract

This case study explores the innovative implementation of ChatGPT in the development of an assessment for a research methods course at an American higher education institution in Greece. For the first time, ChatGPT was utilized to generate an assessment scenario: the fieldnotes from an open observation that students would have to perform a qualitative analysis on. The presentation details the process of ChatGPT prompt engineering used to enhance the design and effectiveness of assessment creation, with the aim of improving the speed and quality of fieldnote production. Each step of the process is described in detail, providing a comprehensive overview of the approach and its outcomes. Additionally, the presentation discusses lessons learned from integrating AI into the assessment creation process, offering valuable insights into the potential benefits and challenges of using ChatGPT in educational settings.
