Research Assistant, Digital Communication
Stavroula is a Research Assistant at the Center of Excellence in Food, Tourism & Leisure (CoEFTL) of The American College of Greece Research Center (ACG-RC). She received her MA in Digital Communication and Social Media from The American College of Greece in 2022, and was awarded the Graduate Achievement Award for finishing top of her class. Her research interests lie in the intersection of digital communication and psychology, with themes that stretch from social media mental health and wellbeing to rapidly advancing digital technologies such as VR. Further interests include, but are not limited to, contentious issues such as social media privacy and social media misinformation/ disinformation. Part of her master’s thesis produced a paper that was presented at the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR) 2022 conference in Beijing, China, which involved a holistic exploration of how mental health viewers experience such content on YouTube. Currently, a second paper based on another section of her master’s thesis is in preparation for a second conference.
